**Grandma’s Cottage Cheese Just Hit $2bn**
4h ago · 7 sources · trend
Cottage cheese is no longer the sad tub in the back of the fridge. In the US, the category topped $2bn in 2025, up 19.2% in dollars and 13.9% in volume, according to Circana. That is real growth, not just price mix doing the heavy lifting.
Private label is riding the wave too, pulling in $673m, up 10% year on year with a 7% rise in units. Consumers are trading around, not trading down. When store brands grow volume like that, you know demand is broad.
Challenger brands helped spark the comeback. Good Culture pushed snack-sized pots, seasonal flavours and viral recipe ideas, then secured fresh backing from L Catterton in a deal reportedly valuing it at more than $500m to fuel scale-up. In the UK, All Things sold one million pots within four months of launching in January and became the best-selling cottage cheese SKU on Ocado. Now it is investing to double capacity by year end.
Zoom out and the runway looks long. Globally, cottage cheese is forecast to grow at a 6% CAGR to 2031, with Asia-Pacific leading at 8%.
Why it matters: protein demand keeps reshaping the dairy aisle. Yogurt had its glow-up. Now cottage cheese is getting the same treatment, but with private label and insurgents both winning. The brands that make it snackable, portable and scroll-stopping will own the next chapter.
